Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has launched the highly anticipated Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) and introduced it in the Venue. The automobile maker has also introduced a new Sport trim of the Venue. The iMT technology has been applied to the Kappa 1.0 l T-GDi Petrol BS6 engine that is mated to 6-Speed Manual Transmission. The iMT system is basically a clutch pedal-free drive but with manual gear shift control. It features a Transmission Gear Shift (TGS) Lever with Intention Sensor, Hydraulic Actuator, and Transmission Control Unit (TCU).The system has been designed to offer a seamless Drive Experience by incorporating a cohesive logic between the various components on manual transmissions:
  • Transmission Control Unit receives a signal from the TGS Lever Intention Sensor, indicating the driver’s desire to change gears.
  • TCU sends a signal to engage Hydraulic Actuator forming Hydraulic Pressure.
  • Hydraulic Pressure is then sent to Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) through Clutch Tube.
  • Concentric Slave Cylinder uses this pressure to control the clutch and pressure plate, thereby engaging and disengaging the clutch.
  • The driver is able to seamlessly shift gears without the need to mechanically operate the clutch pedal.
Hyundai’s innovative iMT option is now available with the Venue SX and SX(O) variants along with the new Venue Sport SX and SX(O) trim.  Alongside the new transmission, Hyundai also introduced the Sport trim for the Venue. The Hyundai Venue Sport trim comes with various new features such as paddle shifters, D-cut steering wheel with red stitching, sporty metal pedals, red accents on knobs, and many more. Hyundai has also introduced a new dual-tone Titan Grey color with a Phantom Black roof with the Venue Sport trim.[gallery size="full" ids="19252,19251"]The Sport trim of the Venue comes in two engine options, there is the Kappa 1.0L Turbo GDi Petrol BS6 mated to a 7-speed DCT or the new iMT which is capable of producing 118 bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 171 Nm of peak torque.
